I had it all wrong!
Have you ever allowed someone else to influence what you thought was right?
This could be about anything; let me give you some examples.
Has anyone ever said something negative to you about another person that you didn’t know well and it influenced your opinion about them? Only to discover what they said wasn’t true?
How about food? Has anyone ever told you that certain foods aren’t good for you, only to discover they are?
Friends, family, or whatever you’re reading may even be well intended…but uninformed.
The list can go on and I can tell you that I have fallen victim to this as well. I have allowed my decisions or opinions in the past to be formed without proper knowledge. I’ve put a stop to that, and there is one particular plant where my attitude and opinion have completely changed.
A plant that has been around since Biblical times and has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries yet has a stigma attached to it.
I had a really bad attitude about this plant because of other people’s opinions and not facts. I wasn’t well informed and hadn’t done my research. So I decided I needed to form MY OWN OPINION and you should, too!
This plant has been known to help with anxiety, inflammation, and pain, autoimmune disease, insomnia, improved focus, stress relief…and the list goes on. It’s been used by professional athletes for muscle recovery. It’s been used by the military for pain and trauma. It can influence our mood and can help with our appetite.
Can I ask you to have an open mind and do your own research to confirm or deny what I’m about to share?
Personally, I went to medical journals to gather my data, not just experts. I wanted cold hard facts if I was going to talk about this subject.
Are you ready?
The Cannabis plant – Hemp and CBD Oil (Cannabidiol)
Let’s talk about WHY it’s not what you think. Yes, Hemp contains CBD and comes from the Cannabis plant. One type of plant is bred as marijuana (that’s not what I’m referring to in this article) and the other is bred to be Hemp.
Hemp has been used for centuries and it IS from the Cannabis plant, so it can be confusing because most people (including me) had misconceptions based on OTHER misguided opinions and NOT FACTS.
I NOW believe in this plant to help with pain, anxiety, our brain, and so many other health benefits.
The US National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health have a wealth of studies for you to look through. Here is one on Cannabidiol (CBD) to treat neurodegenerative disorders: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22625422
Quick factoid – CBD is NOT psychoactive (as long as it is pure CBD with no THC), meaning it cannot get you high.
The ingredient THC Tetrahydrocannabinol (more commonly found in the marijuana plant) is the ingredient that gets you high. The Hemp plant contains more CBD than THC. Hemp is legal. CBD is legal as long as it does not contain THC (less than .03).
Here’s another resource on how Cannabinoids suppress inflammatory and neuropathic pain by targeting the a3 glycine receptors: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22585736
What does that mean? It means that cannabinoids activate two receptors, one that blocks pain and one that decreases inflammation. They work on both the brain and the immune system! This is HUGE! And whether you realize it or not, inflammation is the root of most disease.
A word of caution: using this product does not mean you can just eat crap and use CBD to negate a bad lifestyle. Instead, it should be utilized in combination with good nutrition and physical activity.
The endocannabinoid system is responsible for easing our pain, controlling our appetite, relieving our stress and influencing our mood. Our brain naturally produces its own version of cannabinoids to stimulate this system during exercise.
Therefore, when proper nutrition and exercise are combined with industrialized Hemp /CBD, the benefits are increased!
Let’s separate facts from fiction.
I found this article and it really helped in understanding…but again, do some of your own research: https://www.leafly.com/…/ca…/separating-cbd-facts-from-myths
This doctor I have found to be a great teacher who explains things in a simple format that is easy to understand: https://healer.com
Wikipedia also provides some information here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabidiol
Now, don’t just run out and purchase CBD without doing a little bit of research on your own.
There are a lot of products out there on the market that make claims but don’t contain the active ingredients.
I hate to say it, but like anything where money is exchanging hands, you need to be careful and understand what you’re paying for. You want to purchase a product that is actually going to give you results! And results are not always immediate.
Results will depend on many factors, including lifestyle, type of, or length of injury, etc. So if you want to try some, my suggestion would be to purchase an oil and/or a salve and use those in combination. Test the product before committing to anything long term.
I did my own testing and started using CBD oil (with zero THC) for an injury on my left calf, and all of a sudden (not overnight but not long after I started using it) the pain was gone. I also just gave some to one of my best friends that deals with anxiety. I’ll let you know how that goes too.
Have you learned about this plant and/or used it before? Would love to hear from you.
Oh, and by the way, there are some great YouTube videos and documentaries on this subject. But again, check all your facts, don’t just believe what you hear. I did that and had a negative attitude towards this plant. When I dug deeper, I discovered a long history from an amazing plant that has tons of benefits.
Next month I’ll be sharing a new Documentary Series that will help you understand this plant, the benefits, and history much better. Be sure to look for it!
We’ve only scratched the surface here in the US as to what this plant can do to help us live a healthier, happier life!
